Managed the flagship store of the Western National Park Association in Oro Valley, Arizona. researched and bought over 500 titles related to the national parks, the southwest and the environment. Organized weekly lectures and events as the main part of the marketing plan. Supervised staff of seven. Bought Native American art and crafts. Ran the register and was responsible for the store's bookkeeping. Designed all signs, educational literature and direct mail. Increased the stores gross sales from $ 6,000 per month to over $ 30,000 in just the first six months of operation. Gave presentations to community groups and introduced over 30 events at the store. Design the publications and website for all departments and campaigns for United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona.
2000-2001 Advertising and Media Coordinator, Piano Technicians Guild, Kansas City, Missouri

Manage advertisingand public relations for an international trade association technicians based in Kansas City. Responsible for sales and design of advertising for a full color monthly magazine, annual directory, convention program, and web site. Writing the narration and directing the editing for two promotional videos. Created a web version of the PTG catalog and Journal advertising rate card. In 2000 I increased advertising revenue for the Journal by $38,000. Supervised the development of a CD-ROM containing searchable indexed pdfs of 240 issues of our magazine, which generated another $28,000 in advertising revenue. Have kept the PTG in the news developing good relations with the media. Gained international media attention through exstensive CNN coverage of our annual convention. Promoted the career of piano technician in on line and print media. Assisted in the promotion, organization and coordination of the PTG annual trade show and the PTG booth at other trade shows. Plan and implement projects to promote the piano industry and piano technicians.

Finished four to six color greeting cards in Photoshop and QuarkExpress. Cards were printed in editions of 100,000-several million with embossing, flocking, foil and other special effects. Worked with large team of designers and production artists.

Designed display ads, illustrated the editorial sections and laid out a weekly tabloid of more than 100 pages in length.
1980-1998 Co-Founder, Food Not Bombs, Boston, Massachusetts and San Francisco, California.

Co-founded Food Not Bombs, an organization that collects surplus food from groceries, bakeries and manufacturers and distributes it to the poor and homeless. Also co-authored the book Food Not Bombs: How to Feed the Hungry and Build Community which has sold more than 10,000 copies in three languages. Food Not Bombs now has more than 175 chapters worldwide.
My work with Food Not Bombs appeared in Amnesty International's Human Rights Report in 1995, Interviews With Icons by Lias Law and in Howard Zinn's A People'History of the United States. I was the recipiant the 1999 Local Hero Award by the San Francisco Bay Guardian. While I continue to maintain the Food Not Bombs web site and revise its publications, I have officially retired from the organization in order to concentrate on painting, graphic design and illustration.
1979-1986 Art Director and Illustrator, Brushfire Graphics, Boston, Massachusetts.

Managed a graphic design team of 10 to 12 employees. Created the concepts and planned and directed the advertising campaigns and corporate identities of numerous small- and medium-sized businesses. Designed display ads, folders books and magazines for stores and organizations in New England. From 1980 to 1986, I designed full-color team calendars and year books for the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics.
I designed logos for Bruggles Bagels, Harvest Market, the New England Food Cooperative, the Committee in Solidarity With the People of El Salvador, the Boston Flat Company theater group and numerous election campaigns. I designed the "US Out of El Salvador" button whose sales helped raise over a million dollars for community work in Central America.
My illustrations and articles appeared in Subway News, Science for the People, Stuff Magazine, the Brookline Tab, Whole Life Times, New Age Magazine, Z Magazine, Boston Magazine, Boston National Historic Park, and Gateway National Seashore. I taught the Graphic Design Workshop in Boston for six years and taught a mural painting course at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. My display ads for John Dellaria Salons won the Clio Awards in 1985 and 1986 in the Print Media Category.
